Brushy Creek Elementary is a Positive Behavior Support school (PBS).  We focus on three qualities:  Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity.
PBS places emphasis on school-wide systems of support which include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors in order to create and maintain a positive school environment.
All areas of the school (classroom, hallways, cafeteria, etc...) have expectations appropriate to the respective area.  Adults introduce the desired behaviors, model them, and then reinforce the positive social behavior with all students.  Teaching behavior expectations and rewarding students with praise is a more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur and then responding.
As a parent, you can support PBS by doing the following:
  1. Use our common terminology at home.  Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity are words your children should be familiar with, and the terms are universal.
  2. When visiting the campus, be mindful that your children are expected to walk silently in line with their class.
  3. Encourage all students to show Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity.
